This is Why You'll Fail Your CAAP License Exam

Afraid of failing your CAAP exam?

A, B, or C? – three different choices, only one correct answer. With a 66% chance of getting every items wrong, the odds are simply not in your favor my friend.

Now, is it even possible to finish it without a failing grade? Well, the answer is YES. In fact, a lot of people already did – and some of them are now working at Skilltech (because we only choose the best..haha).

If you’re not familiar with it yet, the CAAP license exam (officially called the CAAP Knowledge Test) is an exam that includes different sets of subjects.

There’s a total of 7 subjects for AMT, and 6 subjects for AVT – all of them you need to pass one by one in order to complete the first requirement of getting a license. Of course, there’s still the Skill Test (practical exam), but we’ll keep this for another time.

So back to the topic, “Are you going to fail your CAAP exam?” – yes, you surely will, especially if you don’t learn from the experiences of those who already failed before. For this article, we took a deep dive just to uncover the reasons why they failed, and to teach you how to effectively avoid them.

Take a look at the results of our survey of 100 exam takers who failed one or more subjects in their search for their CAAP license. It’s time to learn from their mistakes.

Top Reasons Why They Failed Their CAAP Exams

1.) Studied Hard, Wrong Reviewer
2.) Keywords Are Not Enough
3.) Killer Confidence Kills
4.) Too Late, My Time Has Come
5.) Sincerely Yours, Scammer

#1: Studied Hard, Wrong Reviewer

Total Votes: 43 out of 100

The Problem:

Have you ever heard the expression, “Try and try until you succeed?” Well, sadly, it doesn’t apply to this one. Because no matter how hard you try, there’s no winning with an inaccurate and outdated reviewer in hand. It’s like breaking a stone with all your strength, but with a toy hammer.

The Cause:

Outdated reviewers are still in circulation nowadays. This is mostly due to unregulated copies from previous years, which are released to consumers, and then passed down from one exam taker to another. Prime examples of these are reviewers in printed copies and PDF files.

Apps that are installed thru APK (Android Package Kit) are also included because they only show the older contents of the reviewer, and don’t support the release of updated versions anymore.

The Solution:

Do your research. In our interviews, there are countless times that exam takers, especially new grads, just agreed to use the same materials because a friend or a teacher said so. Remember, exams for CAAP license change from time to time, so it’s only logical to always have the latest reviewers.

Try to ask as many recent exam takers as you can. You can also transform into a super genius and just study the whole damn coverage (which is very long by the way). Or, just relax and get yourself a Skilltech CAAP Exam Reviewer. We update our reviewers every week. Enough said. (mic drop)

#2: Keywords Are Not Enough

Total Votes: 21 out of 100

The Problem:

Keywords are very helpful when studying for your CAAP exam. The problem lies in relying on them too much. This is especially true for items with longer questions and repetitive choices. It’s impossible to remember what’s what when you’ve read the keyword “maintenance” five times in a row.

The Cause:

It’s actually simple. Nobody wants to read long and wordy articles anymore. Even laughing nowadays is expressed as “LOL.” Hence, reading 30+ words in 1 item is already considered excruciating by today’s standards.

The Solution:

We scoured the internet for helpful tips that you can use when studying lengthy items. After examining the results, we summarized it into one simple sentence so you won’t have to read all of them – Don’t be lazy.

Make some effort in reading the whole thing. Only use keywords when you’ve fully read and understood the questions. But most of all, don’t skip if an item is “too long." Every question counts. We’re telling you, that extra effort will make a lot of difference in the end.

#3: Killer Confidence Kills

Total Votes: 19 out of 100

The Problem:

Confidence is essential in almost everything we do. However, confidence based only on misguided assumptions is more dangerous than having self-doubts. Oftentimes, exam takers assume that they already got it, even without testing themselves first. You know, even presidents rehearse their speeches before they face the public.

The Cause:

It’s rooted from the lack of better methods to check their readiness for the exams. They just couldn’t find the proper platform to test their mastery of the items that they’ve studied so far. That’s why exam takers usually go to these CAAP exams not knowing what to expect at all.

The Solution:

With all our good intentions, just get the Skilltech CAAP Exam Reviewer. This is not even about promoting our app anymore. It’s just that we could not think of any better advice to give you right now (really).

To begin with, we’re the only app in the Philippines that is equipped with Mock Exams that can simulate the actual exam. From passing scores, time limits, and user interface – everything is designed to replicate the real CAAP exam standards. So that when you take the exam for the first time, it already feels like the second time. Now that’s what we call “killer confidence."

#4: Too Late, My Time Has Come

Total Votes: 10 out of 100

The Problem:

Unless you have a time machine just lying around somewhere, then you must pay attention to this. From all the entries on this list, this is probably the only one where we could truly say, “It’s entirely your fault.” Not allocating enough time for your review is the biggest and the dumbest mistake you’ll probably make in your preparation.

The Cause:

Since getting the CAAP license happens after graduation, a lot of new grads are busy with various things such as OJT, job search, getting requirements, or much worse, unlimited fun vacation (A.K.A. tambay). With these activities, they typically choose to delay their preparations even further without realizing that it’s getting too late.

The Solution:

Our research says that an exam taker typically takes around 2-4 weeks just to familiarize the topics for the whole exam. To master them, it will probably take longer than that. Of course, this is not the case for everyone. Some are slower, and some are faster (especially with our reviewer app.. haha!).

All jokes aside, just start reviewing, today! It doesn’t matter if you’re already on your OJT, or if you’re still a student. Reviewing takes time and patience – so win like the turtle, and don’t lose like the rabbit.

#5: Sincerely Yours, Scammer

Total Votes: 7 out of 100

The Problem:

“Akong bahala sayo pre, may kakilala ako sa CAAP. Patok ‘to na reviewer, promise! One week lang, may lisensya ka na. Dami na nga kumuha sa akin eh. 25k talaga ‘to, pero para sayo, 20k na lang. Discounted ‘yan basta tropa. Wag ka lang maingay sa iba ha?”

Sincerely Yours,

Scammer

The Cause:

Getting scammed starts with the idea of acquiring the license “the easy way.” But only if new grads had the proper guidance before these encounters, getting scammed wouldn’t be possible in the first place. It’s definitely the lack of awareness that gives these money-scamming a-holes the advantage.

The Solution:

Stay away from these people. We’ve heard a lot of misfortunes caused by these scammers over the years. Sadly, we couldn’t do much to stop these from happening. But if we can make a change by spreading these blogs, then we will gladly keep trying. Help us kick every scammer’s ass until they’re gone for good.
